Join us for a special program as fellow Rotarians Stan Galanski and Scott Dyson share their experiences from the 2026 Rotary International Convention in Taipei, Taiwan, one of the largest Rotary gatherings in recent years, bringing together more than 38,000 Rotary members and participants from over 140 countries. The convention showcased the power of Rotary's global network through inspiring speakers, international fellowship, humanitarian service projects, and a celebration of cultures from around the world. Attendees heard messages of hope and action from leaders including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, explored innovative service initiatives, and experienced the vibrant spirit of Taipei. Stan and Scott will share highlights from the convention, including memorable sessions, key takeaways, and the connections they made with Rotarians from across the globe. Beyond the convention itself, Stan will reflect on the cultural experiences that made the trip unforgettable, guided by Scott, whose unique perspective comes from his time as a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Taipei. Whether you have attended an international convention before or have always wondered what it is like, this program will inspire you to think about the limitless possibilities of Rotary and the friendships that await beyond our local community. Come discover how Rotary connects the world, one friendship and one service project at a time. |

| 2026-08-27 00:00:00Z | Aug 26, 2026 | Club's Arrangements Committee Anniversary | Aug 27, 2026 |
We commemorate this date as one step closer to the formation of our Club back in 1964
Congratulations Space Center!
In a letter dated August 27, 1964 to Mr. President from Fred Lane, Arrangements Committee, detailed several things that had to be done. Fred Lane noted that Rotary International had indicated a special interest in the new club due to its location and the type of membership which included Gordon Cooper, one of the original astronauts.
The letter continued with the arrangements noting that each Rotary Club in District 589 would want to participate to the fullest; therefore, each club was asked to contribute $25.00 toward operating items the new club would need, such as Banner, Flag, Bell, Gavel, Speaker’s Stand, Lapel Buttons, and Identification Buttons.

| 2026-09-11 00:00:00Z | Sep 10, 2026 | 9.11 A Day of Service and Remembrance | Sep 11, 2026 |
"The nation changed forever on September 11, 2001. Many Americans remember a country before and a country after, and for many young Americans, only a country after. Terrorist attacks causing tragic loss of life at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in sight of the nation’s capital, and a quiet field in southern Pennsylvania led to conversations and reflection on American identity, patriotism, security, and service that resonate today."

HAPPY FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY!
Rotary started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris After setting up his law practice in Chicago, Harris gathered several business associates to discuss the idea of forming an organization for local professionals. He envisioned a place where professionals of diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. On 23 February 1905, Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram Shorey gathered at Loehr’s office in Room 711 of the Unity Building in downtown Chicago. This was the first Rotary club meeting. “I was sure that there must be many other young men who had come from farms and small villages to establish themselves in Chicago ... Why not bring them together? If others were longing for fellowship as I was, something would come of it.” Over time, Rotary’s reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service. Members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world. To learn more about Rotary International click here.
