Lt. Col. Ian P. O’Sullivan serves as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District’s Deputy Commander for Mega Projects. He assists the district commander in overseeing an area of responsibility spanning the Texas coast from Louisiana to Mexico, encompassing 50,000 square miles, 48 counties, two parishes, and 16 Congressional districts. O’Sullivan is responsible for executing the Galveston District’s mission of providing public engineering services to strengthen security along the Texas coast, energize the local economy, and reduce risks from disasters within the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay project and the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Project.

O’Sullivan was commissioned in the U.S. Army in May 2006. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Geospatial Information Science from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science in Geological Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. O’Sullivan is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College as well as the Engineer Officer Captains Career Course and Basic Course.

His military awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4), Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Sapper Tab, and the Bronze Order of the DeFleury Medal.
