Our August 6th, our week started by helping to stuff hundreds of backpacks with our Community Partner Perry Family YMCA. An incredible team work of all the volunteers, who showed up with all their energy levels and completed the task in less than 30 minutes. We had a fantastic Space Center Rotarians turnout!! Thank you so much to our President Teri Fowle Crawford, President Nominee Becky Trout Unbehagen, Marilyn and Wayne Musial, Stan and Susan Galanski, John Branch, Bill Howe, Carol Saxe, Richard Cockerhan, and Nurit Hinthorn.
Then, on August 7th, our wonderful Nurit Hinthorn and Madella Williams bought about $300.00 of school supplies to be equally distributed to three elementary schools of our Community Partner, Clear Creek ISD.
Same day our fellow Rotarian Richard Simmons with his son, Madella Williams, Alan Wylie, Jim and Carol Saxe and Stan Galanski, gathered at the Bay Oaks Country Club to organize the supplies, got everything loaded and ready for Drop Offs.
The first Drop Off was on August 8th at Clear Lake Elementary School. We were warmly welcomed by Kari Euker, School Counselor. Thanks to Madella, who was the assigned driver for the first drop off. We appreciate John Branch, Margarita MH and Dr. Karen Engle - Clear Creek ISD Superintendent, who was not wearing her hat as Superintendent, but as a Rotarian, for their support and help getting the supplies into their storage room.
Second and Third Drop Off is scheduled for August 11th, to Whitcomb and Armand Bayou Elementary Schools. Thank you Alan Wylie for being the assigned driver.
We want to deeply thank Nurit Hinthorn, our current Community Service Director and Madella Williams, past Director for their outstanding leadership and commitment. And what can we say about the Community Service Committee? YOU ROCK!
