The award recognizes the efforts of Rotarians that go "above and beyond" the call of duty set by the standard “Service Above Self”. Congratulations, Jerrold on a job well done!!!
Above & Beyond Award Origination
In 1901, Emma Kunkle Divine, a 17 year old Salvation Army volunteer, discovered that the busy people in the streets of New York were painfully slow in responding to the needy. What could one average girl do to reach so many? Emma bought a small bell and starting ringing it to attract donors. The donations rolled in and soon the entire Salvation Army was ringing little bells across the nation.
Do you have a cause? If so, find your bell and ring it. Let no one tell you that the problems of the world are too big to tackle, or that one person like you can't make a difference.
