Saturday, May 9
8:30- 10:30am
Armand Bayou Nature Center (ABNC)Project: General Stewardship volunteer activity. (Due to the weather this week, projects are subject to change and adjust as the week progresses to the greatest ABNC need. The activities we do usually revolve around invasive removal, light trail maintenance, debri clearing, and general beautification of the nature center).
Arrival Instructions:
- ABNC is closed to the public at the time of day, so when you arrive the gate will only be partially opened. Please feel free to drive around the partially opened gate and park in the general parking lot. We do have bus parking as well if needed.
- Volunteers should proceed to the ABNC Staff member who will meet them near or under the ABNC sign near the admissions building to check in, drop off waivers, and receive a welcome.
What to Wear & Bring: to ensure safety and comfort during the workday, please encourage your team to come prepared with the following:
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes (required) – no Crocs or open shoes
- Pants – for protection against brush and grasses.
- Clothes that can get dirty – long sleeves recommended for sun or brush protection
- Reusable water bottle – hydration is key! We have water refill stations on site.
- Sunscreen and insect repellent we will have some extra, if needed please ask one of the stewardship techs, but if any volunteers have a preference or allergy, please encourage them to bring their own.
- Hat and sunglasses for sun protection is recommended but not required.
*Gloves, Safety glasses and tools that might be needed will be provided by ABNC.
Service Waiver: all participants must complete a service waiver to take part in the volunteer activities.
