Behind the Gift: An Inside Look at Healthcare Philanthropy
About our Speaker: Kristen joined the Houston Methodist Hospital Foundation as a Development Director in November 2022 after relocating to Houston from Chicago, Illinois. Her career in Illinois offered a rich and diverse set of opportunities where she launched new philanthropic programs to increase the donor base and funding support for missions related to aging, developmental disabilities, and equitable access to medical, dental and mental health services. Most recently, Kristen was the Vice President of Philanthropy for Aspire of Illinois and oversaw key fundraising initiatives such as major events, program campaigns, grant management, and donor relations. She was also instrumental in merging the philanthropy programs of two organizations as Aspire took the lead in an acquisition. Originally from Metro-Detroit, Kristen received her bachelor’s degree in Human Aging and Psychology with a specialization in Bioethics from Michigan State University. After graduating, she moved to Chicago where she earned a Certificate of Nonprofit Management from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and was one of 12 inaugural fellows to complete a 16-month Ladder to Leadership certification program through the Center for Creative Leadership. In addition to her professional work, Kristen serves on the Anchor Fund committee at Lakewood Yacht Club.
A long-time wine enthusiast, Kristen enjoys theater, traveling, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends and family. She currently lives in the Clear Lake area with her husband Steve.
